Whenever I leave the house, I have a fear of being in a situation where I have to choose between eating nothing, or eating something that I know will make me sick. I now carry a “Mom Purse”. You know, the giant bag that Moms carry that seems to contain everything but a kitchen sink (not to worry, there is always anti-bacterial soap). Well, I now carry one, but there is not anti-bacterial soap or tissues in it, only a LOT of gluten-free food. I am not sure what I am going to do when I become a Mom. I may need a rolling suitcase.
Several months ago, there was a story about a cruise ship that was stranded without power and the Coast Guard dropped in Spam and Pop Tarts for people to sustain themselves. This situation has become a reoccurring nightmare for me.
I mention this because I am preparing for a trip. I have done extensive research on locations to eat in and around my destination. And, I am happy that, according to my research, I will have plenty of options. That does not mean that I will be without my Mom Purse.
When getting on a plane, there is no way I am getting away without checking a bag. I know that those mini bags of pretzels are not going to work for me, but my Mom Purse will not let me down. So, as long as I have my fully stocked Mom Purse, I am up to travel anywhere.
Wishing you great food and happy tummies!

I am very thankful for your ‘mom purse’ this weekend. The extra Clif bars that you packed for me hit the spot.
I feel the same way. Since I was going to a wedding this weekend I stocked up my purse so that I was sure to have some food to eat instead of just salad and fruit.
I was wondering if you could post a picture or items that you carry if your “mom purse.” I live in Defiance, while I currently work and go to school in Toledo, and should probably be carrying around something similar – suggestions of easy stuff to pack would be awesome!
