Bye, Bye Canned Cranberries

by | Nov 18, 2011 | Recipes

This is a great recipe that will make every family give up the canned cranberry relish, and choose this instead (whether they are on gluten-free diets or not).  The best part – You can make this the day before the big dinner!

Bourbon-Cranberry Compote

from Real Simple’s 2010 Thanksgiving Issue

12 oz bag of cranberries

¾ cup sugar

½ cup apple juice

¼ cup bourbon (Maker’s Mark is gluten-free)

Combine ingredients in a saucepan.  Simmer, stirring occasionally, until cranberries begin to burst and sauce thickens. (20-25 minutes)  Let cool.

I serve this cold, so it is find to make it a day or two before and pull it straight out of the fridge and serve.

Wishing you great food and happy tummies,

K
