It is rare that my friends that are not gluten-free find a product that I have not heard of, but this rare event lead me to a great beer. New Grist is sorghum and rice based beer. Most gluten-free beers are just sorghum based. I am not sure if the rice is what gives it the great flavor or if there is some other ingredient. Whatever it is, it tastes great!
If you are looking for gluten-free Budlight, this is not it. There is a hint of fruit, but not enough to make anyone lose their man card. It is just enough to give it great flavor and that microbrew feel.
The best part of this beer is that my friends found it. What a great gift to have friends that really understand my allergy and want me to still be able to drink with them. 🙂
Cheers to you!
Wishing you great food and happy tummies,
K
Another great GF beer is Woodchuck. They have a bunch of different flavors and are all naturally gluten free (it even says it on the bottle!) I was never a fan of beer, even before I was diagnosed, but this stuff is fantastic. It’s all cider beer as well, but with the large variety of flavors, there’s bound to be one that everyone enjoys. They also have seasonal beer and last year introduced the first pumpkin beer. http://www.woodchuck.com
I will try to post a picture of contents of my Mom’s Purse soon. For now, here are some suggestions: Welches Fruit Snacks, bags of nuts, Larabars (they are an energy bar), and generally a bag of Chex. Rarely do I sit and eat breakfast as I head out the door, so breakfast usually comes out of my purse.
