Yesterday was Fat Tuesday! Which used to mean Paczkis for us, but after going gluten free we were hard pressed to find any. The closest we had found was a bakery an hour into Michigan, but nothing around here. And trying to make time to get there is not always easy.
This year was different. Kendra saw a post from The Mindful Table that they would have Paczkis available the next day! I had never been to The Mindful Table or had anything from there before. They are a completely Vegan and Gluten Free bakery and deli located at Levis Commons.
I was nervous that they would sell out and rightfully so since following their posts they were selling the Paczkis as fast as they could make them. I did an online order and they quickly contacted me to let me know when they would be available for pick up. Their available flavors are: chocolate, strawberry, blueberry, cherry, apple, banana, and cream.
We ordered chocolate, strawberry and blueberry. Now to talk about what you really want to know, how were they? While dropping the 3 off to Kendra we each immediately scarfed one down. We both really enjoyed the taste and texture of the dough, and while it has been a decade since either of us had an regular one these seemed very true to how they should be. They were well filled, but not overly filled where you are dripping all over the place (they are always messy enough leaving powdered sugar all over). The strawberry was my favorite with actual pieces of strawberries in the filling. The blueberry and chocolate were also great, but I will stick to the fruit filled as they feel more traditional to me.
With this great experience I will be going back to try more of their offerings. As always I will let you know my take on them.
Happy Snacking!
