Cinco De Mayo a Bit Early

Over the last two years, I have visited several Mexican restaurants in the Toledo area that were willing to make gluten-free accommodations for me.  However, none of them had a dedicated gf menu, and anytime cooking gf is not a standard procedure at a restaurant, I get nervous.

Finally, I found a Mexican restaurant in the area that has a standard gluten-free menu and has a staff that does not look at you like oddly when you order something gluten-free.  Don Pablo’s has a gluten-free menu.  The menu has a lot of choices and the food was good and the drinks were even better.

The wait staff appeared familiar with the gf options, and in case they were not comfortable, the menu spells out what the gluten-free accommodation is on the menu.

My only problem was one that I have found with many gluten-free menus – you need a standard menu to see the prices.  Other restaurants do not even print a description of the item on the gluten-free menu.  You have to keep switching back and forth between the gf menu and the standard menu. Can’t I see it all in one place?

I guess that is a minor complaint when compared to having good food that I did not have to worry about.

Wishing you great food and happy tummies,
