Hot Hibachi

What is better than watching your food set on fire in front of you?  Watching your friends’ food set on fire in front of you.  Sakura Japanese Steak House on Monroe Street is more than willing to cook a gluten-free meal in the kitchen for you.  They have a few options on their menu that are gluten-free naturally.  However, if you bring in your own gluten-free soy sauce or teriyaki sauce, they will use it in preparing your dish.  So, you can have the same things you friends are having.  It will just be safely prepared in the back, utilizing ingredients you know are gluten-free.

My husband called to see if they could accommodate my allergy, and they said sure, just bring your own sauce in.  I was shocked that they offered this as an option. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful.  I happened to order something off the menu that was naturally gluten-free (A seafood dish prepared with a butter, lemon and caper sauce).  I had my soy sauce, so I was able to add it to my rice.

It is nice to have another option for entertaining dining, that will not make me sick.

Wishing you great food and happy tummies,

K
