Casa de Choices

Last weekend I had the opportunity to try Cocina De Carlos. We had a blue haired special – it was an early dinner. The restaurant is in Perrysburg across the street from the French Quarter (or at least where it used to be).

I was shocked by the number of menu options that were gluten-free. I filled up on chips and a couple of their appetizer dips, and yet somehow found room to eat a tamale, taco and their more traditional taco. I left STUFFED, but very happy. The food was very good, and I am always happier about a restaurant experience when my options include more than four options. I think four was the number of appetizer options I had!

Not only do they have the standard Americanized Mexican food, but they also have some more traditional items. My husband enjoyed his fajitas and he told me the margaritas were very tasty. I did not partake.

I am not sure that all of the staff has incredible familiarity with what gluten-free means. However the owner was there when we had dinner. He seemed very involved and friendly, and appeared happy to do what he could to make sure we had a great dining experience.

Wishing you great food and a happy tummy
