A Steak and a Sack

by | Mar 24, 2012 | Restaurants

Several weeks ago my husband and I were celebrating a special occasion, so we splurged and went to Mancy’s.  My husband called ahead to make sure that they could accommodate a gluten allergy.  They assured him it was no problem.

Our server knew what menu items I could have that were gluten-free and what she did not know, she checked on.  It was clear that she did not know the ins and outs of gluten allergies, but it did not show in the food.  It actually presented itself in a much more amusing way. . . she kept referring to food containing gluten as “glutens”.  So when the salad came out without croutons, she informed me that she made sure to tell them “not to put the glutens on it.”  My husband and I were very entertained by her frequent use of this term.

I had a steak, vegetables and a baked potato.  They were great.  You are limited in the sauces you can have, but if you are not interested in disguising your steak, you have plenty of options.  I am not including a picture of the steak. . . I believe you all know what it should look like.

I am including a picture of the Chocolate sack!  This is their signature dessert and it is gluten-free.  It is a chocolate sack, filled with chocolate mousse, topped with whipped cream and raspberries.  It is wonderful!

Mancy’s is certainly not a weekly outing for us, but it was nice to be able to celebrate something and top the celebration off with a fantastic gluten-free dessert.

Wishing you great food and happy tummies,

K
